The Sever ('North') was developed in 1941 and primarily used for resistance forces communications and other clandestine operations. The set was packed in two canvas carriers comprising the basic radio in wooden cover along with accessories and the battery bag containing LT and HT dry batteries. Recorded is the production of a mains powered version of the set where the battery valves were replaced by steel types involving only minor circuit diagram modifications.
