USSR VHF transceiver type R-147

The USSR R-147 is a very small short range VHF FM transceiver. It was used as a manpack set for Platoon communications.

• Frequency range 44.0-51.8MHz in 100kHz channels.

• Powered by 6-7.5V rechargeable battery or external 9V dry batteries.
• 100kHz channel spacing.

• Uses single earphone with a cheek microphone.

USSR R-147 complete with accessories: external 9V battery (left), headphone and cheek microphone (centre) and control unit (right). The external battery comprises two standard 4.5 V flashlight batteries and was primarily used to be carried on the body to keep them warm under extreme low temperatures. The long range tape aerial is connected to the terminal on top of the control unit.
