USSR VHF FM transceiver type R-109D

USSR VHF FM Transceiver R-109D.

The R-105D/108D/109D family of manpack transceivers was developed in the 1950s. The sets were used in very large quantities in the Warsaw Pack countries, providing radio communication within the Division at all levels down to Company HQ by Infantry, Artillery and AA Artillery. This particular model has Polish inscriptions and is a later issued model. The difference between this model and an earlier version (a function switch which was fitted only on later models) can be seen on the USSR R-108D front panel. The D series were ultimately replaced by the R-105M to R-109M family of sets.
